This week, Umpqua Bank announced they will be making a concerted effort to hire more veterans within their banking system. My friend Michael sent me this information and I want to share it with you.

Umpqua Bank is launching a veteran’s hiring program, “Calling All Vets”, and is currently working with several organizations to give more veterans a chance to work for the World’s Greatest Bank.
Why is this program important? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 2.3 million veterans have served overseas since September 11, 2001 and there are over 700,000 veterans between the ages of 18-24 looking for work. Add that to the remaining 300,000 veterans who are 24 and older and/or served in other conflicts, we are seeing about 1 million veterans currently unemployed.
